Year 1/2G has made a fantastic start to the year. This term we have been learning about procedures. A procedure tells us how to do something. It has important elements such as a Title, Aim, Materials/Ingredients and Method. We have completed a few procedures like "How to make a jam sandwich, How to cross the road safely and How to make a milkshake!" Here is some of our work.
Again I am saying – WELCOME BACK to school for all of our families. Even though it was only for a few days, we certainly missed being together and there were many happy, smiling faces on our return. We are committed to ensuring you are informed of any changes that happen that may impact on you or your child. We will continue to provide the most updated information as soon as we receive it. Again, I thank you for your patience and understanding and the way you continue to support your child/children and our staff.
At St Mary’s we are wholeheartedly committed to the safety, wellbeing and learning of every child. If your child is struggling for any reason, please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s teacher, to Julian Blackford (Deputy Principal) or to me. We will do our very best to support you and your child, however if we don’t know that there is a problem or that your little one is having some difficulty, we cannot help and support them to enable school to be all it can be for them.
We continue to focus on being our BEST throughout this challenging time and I thank each of you for the way you continue to support us to ensure every child is able to strive to be their BEST. When we talk about being our BEST we are referring to our commitment to:
Build Relationships
Expect Excellence in Everything
Stay Safe Everywhere
Take Responsibility for Your Learning
In all that we say, and all that we do, and all that we share with others we are reminded to bring the BEST of ourselves.
We pray that we will continue to be at school
and we are thankful for our community,
our health and our families.
Take care of yourselves and each other.

St. Mary’s Swimming Trials
On 12th February, 44 children in Years 3-6 participated in the St. Mary’s Swimming Trials. They showed respect and encouragement for their peers as they raced to the finish line. Of the 44 participants, 27 will now go through to the Western Valley Division Competition, due to be held on Monday, 22nd February. We congratulate all students on their good sportsmanship. All the best to those progressing to the next level.
School photos will be taken on Tuesday 2nd March.
Photo package order forms, prepaid envelopes are coming home with students today. Each student must have their own envelope to hand to the photographer on the day.
Family/sibling photo packs are also available. Contact Sandi in the office and she will send a prepaid envelope home with your child.
Students will need to be dressed in full summer uniform on photo day. We understand this is sports day for some students, if you would like to send their PE uniform in their school bags, students can change when needed. This is optional.

CSEF (Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund)
The Victorian State Government provides financial assistance to parents who hold a valid means-tested concession card so that students do not miss out on Camps, Sports & Excursions. If you think you may qualify please see the link below for more information and an application form or contact the office.
Student Absences
It is a requirement that if your child is absent from school we are notified, on the day of the absence. If the school does not hear from you we are required to contact you.
As the office is often busy in the morning and sometimes unable to answer calls, it would be preferred if you could advise us of your childs absence using the Absentee link on our website or school app.
For those families who have set up PAM (Parent Access Module) you are able to notifiy the school directly through PAM. If you haven't set up PAM yet, could you please do so now, families should have received an email approx 4th Feb, if you didn't please let Mr Julian Blackford know by email to jblackford@stmnewbor.catholic.edu.au
