Remote Learning with Grade 5/6 B
Well we are already into week 4 of Remote Learning and so far so good! The children have been very productive and I am very pleased with their enthusiasm to get themselves up and running early in the day.
The class start the day with reading their chosen novel and then complete a short reading response. Here are some photos of students enjoying reading in the comforts of home. They have also completed various other activities in relation to Earth-Space including a space-themed narrative, a fact file, mind map, as well as some interesting reading on Aboriginal astronomy.
Well done class and keep up the amazing effort. Mrs Bramstedt and 5/6B.
Dear Parents,
A huge and heartfelt congratulations of the way you have engaged in the Remote Learning experience. We are coming to the end of Week 4 of Remote Learning. I encourage you to keep remembering that your teachers, ESOs and our leadership team are walking this journey with you, available to support you with your child’s learning in any way we can. Your teachers have set a program that is designed to support and extend your child’s knowledge and independence. If your child is not completing their learning in the allocated time, please don’t worry, just let them do their best, work to the given timeframe and upload what they have done. If the learning is too difficult for your child, please let their teacher know. This gives your child’s teacher a clear understanding of how your child is going with Remote Learning and what they are able to achieve. This serves two purposes, it enables the teacher to see authentically how your child is coping, and it provides an understanding of the support you need to enable your child to thrive while working at home. Your responsibility is not to ensure all of the work is completed, we simply ask you to encourage your child to have a go and do their best. If you have any questions or concerns, speak to us…that’s what we are here for.
On Friday May 22, we are having a “Special Specialist Day”. On this day, the children will not be receiving learning tasks from their teachers and there will not be any expectation for work to be completed and uploaded. This day provides the opportunity for our teachers to write the children’s mid-year reports which, while challenging in our current situation, is a mandatory legal obligation. The teachers will not be available to families on this day as they will be engaged in the report writing process throughout the day. The Specialist teachers will be providing the learning for our “Special Specialist Day” and you are welcome to choose to participate in any way that works for your family. There will not be any expectation that work will be uploaded on this day, however if you choose to participate in an activity and would like to upload it, you send it to the Specialist teacher, not your classroom teacher. You are free to create and participate in a wide range of fun activities for this day…perhaps you might like to cook an Italian lunch or dinner, perhaps you might do a piece of artwork that you would enjoy, you might choose to join in and do a dance video, some Karaoke perhaps…maybe you love to be active and would enjoy going for a walk, creating an obstacle course in your house or backyard…whatever you choose to do becomes your learning for the day! We appreciate your child’s commitment to learning consistently and this is our way of providing support to our teachers, as well as a fun, no stress, relaxing day for them. For the children who need to be onsite learning on Friday May 22, we will be providing a “Special Specialist Day” for them as well.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any queries or concerns regarding this day.
Remember you are always in our thoughts and prayers.
Kind regards
Lisa Broeren
