New from Fabulous Foundation / One AB
Father’s Day Acrostic Poems
Foundation/One AB have been focusing on their Dads this week, in preparation for Father’s Day on Sunday. On Thursday the children created Acrostic Poems all about their Dads. The children had to write the word ‘Father’ vertically down the side of their page. Then, the children had to brainstorm words that they associate with their Dad that also start with each letter of the word ‘Father.’Finally, the children had to add these words to each letter and create a special and meaningful poem for their Dads. We would like to wish all our Dads, Grandfathers, Step-Fathers and Special Males in our lives a very happy and relaxing day on Sunday.
Take a look at some of their Poems:
Dear Parents
I continue to remind myself of a prayer that resonates so powerfully for me:
As I reflect on what this prayer is telling us, I find myself asking what it is that I can find the courage to change in our current climate. What I have realised is that I can change the way I view what is happening. I can focus on what I CAN do rather than what I can’t do, who I CAN talk to rather than who I cannot visit or see, how I CAN view this time and what positive aspects I can draw from it. There are times where this is definitely more challenging than other times, however keeping this positive focus is one way of keeping sanity, joy and gratitude in the forefront of our thinking. For me, it is an important part of my role to provide a positive, forward thinking, yet understanding and supportive focus when I am interacting with our families and this prayer provides that for me. I really hope you find something helpful in this prayer too.
Please always remember that I am here, and so are our wonderful staff, to support you in any way we can. We continue to be a wonderful, supportive community and remote learning, lockdown, restrictions and a pandemic is not going to prevent us from being the community we are proud to have chosen as our own. We need this for ourselves and for our children so that they, too, can find joy, gratitude and positivity each and every day.
Wishing you all the very best for the coming week.
Kind regards,
Lisa Broeren
BreastScreen Victoria Van – Moe MSS visit
BreastScreen Victoria van returns to Moe with free breast screens
From 18 October – 22 October 2021, BreastScreen Victoria’s hot pink van will return to Moe to provide free breast screens to the community.
Women aged between 50 and 74 should have a free breast screen every two years. They are the best way to find breast cancer early, before there are symptoms and when treatment is most successful.
All breast screens are with a female radiographer, in a friendly and safe environment. You don’t need a doctor’s referral or Medicare card, and screens only take 10 minutes.
BreastScreen Victoria has safety measures in place to protect clients and staff against the risk of COVID-19. This includes mandatory face masks and spaced out appointments to allow for physical distancing, and more cleaning in between appointments. More information about screening during COVID-19 can be found on the BreastScreen Victoria website.
The van will be at Coles Supermarket – 92 Albert Street, Moe.
Appointments for the Moe van can be made online at breastscreen.org.au or by calling 13 20 50.
