Once upon a time...
3/4BA dressed up in magical, adventurous and creative costumes!
They learnt about "The Unwilling Twin"- where a girl and her pig claimed to be identical twins. We learnt though, that what counts is how we are on the inside. So we created "visible" and "invisible" self-portraits.
Then we learnt "How to Make A Bird". The origami bird task encouraged us to muster our resilience and try (multiple times) until we finally succeeded! We were very proud of our persistence and the beautiful birds we created. Then, it was time to investigate the inside of a bird using a bird anatomy interactive website.
After a big day, they all went home and lived happily ever after.
The end...or is it?
Dear Parents
We are very sad to be saying farewell to several staff members at the end of this year. One very significant farewell is to Helen Procak. Helen has worked at St Mary’s for many years and has always given her very best to any role she has taken on. She is such a team player, going out of her way to provide support across the school. We will certainly miss Helen and thank her most sincerely for all she brings to our school community. As the year draws to a close we also thank Mersina Gelagotis, who has been our Physical Education teacher this year. Mersina has brought so much to our school and we thank her for all that she has been to our school community. Mersina will be missed by all staff and students of St Mary’s. We also say goodbye to Kelsea Timmers who has been a highly valued Education Support Officer for the past two terms this year. Kelsea will be missed by all of our staff and students. We also say goodbye to Jordan McMahon. Jordan has been an Education Support Officer for the past two terms. Jordan has built relationships with staff and students and will be missed by our school community.
We warmly welcome two new members to our staff for the 2022 school year. We welcome Trudee Ridley to the role of classroom teacher two days per week in the 1/2 area. We also welcome Lauren Halket to our team as our new STEM teacher. We are very excited to have these two talented and passionate teachers as members of our staff and we are sure you will all make them feel very welcome.
We are in the final stages of creating the classes and will be letting you know whose class your child is in prior to the Statewide Transition day on Tuesday December 7. This information will be sent to you before this day.

School Concert - It's a Jungle Out There
We need Concert Back Drop Props
The Concert Committee are on the lookout for medium to large fake pot plants that may be borrowed for the filming of the concert. These will bring depth to our impressive backdrop for the "jungle".
If you have something suitable, please drop off your pot/s at the office before Week 10, with your name tucked inside the pot or at the base of the fake plant. All pots will be securely kept in our dedicated concert space. Your assistance is greatly appreciated and we will return these to you in Week 11.
Our Concert will be held on Thursday 9th December at school during the day and a full dress rehearsal on Wednesday 8th December.
Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions we are unable to have an audience at school. However we will have the concert professionally filmed and DVD's will be available to purchase. We will send out information on how to purchase DVD's closer to the date.
Thank you to our amazing team of costume designers who have been very busy creating costumes for your child since February.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Catherine Griffiths, Bek Warner or Bree Alger.
Warm regards,
The Concert Committee
