What a term it has been! Our Foundation students have just finished their first term of their very first year of school. The growth we have seen in the children, not only in their reading, counting and writing, but within themselves is impressive. We look forward to seeing what term two brings for these bright sparks.
Term one has seen the students participate in lots of different activities, both within school gates and outside the gates of St. Mary’s Primary School. These have included Pancake Day, Foundation Camp Afternoon, Multicultural Day, Athletics Carnival, Old Gippstown excursion, Football Clinic, Family BBQ, Teddy Bear’s Picnic, School Photos, and St. John’s Ambulance First Aid incursion, just to name a few. On top of this the children have learnt the routine of everyday school life- unpacking their bags in the morning, packing their bags in the afternoon, Assembly, SMART Spelling, Lunch Orders, Prayer, morning admin, take home books and PE, the list could go on.
We are so proud of how far they have come in such a short amount of time. Check out some of photos of our year so far!
Dear Parents
While we are all celebrating the end of a very long term, we are also celebrating the many successes we have had this term. Our Foundation students settled so beautifully into school life as have their families. It is wonderful to have so many new families this year and we have been very fortunate to have been able to have several opportunities to gather and get to know each other. Our Athletics Sports day was a great success and I take this opportunity to thank our staff and parents for the exceptional job they did to make it a wonderful day for everyone. It was fantastic to see so many parents and siblings joining in and supporting us on the day. The St Mary’s community spirit was definitely alive and well!
As you prepare for the holidays, I thank all of our families for the support you have given to our school this term. Whether it is the patience you show as you move through the Kiss and Go each morning and afternoon, the way you engage with each other and particularly our new families, or the support you continue to give to your children and our staff, we are very thankful for the wonderful community we have at St Mary’s.
A huge thank you must go to our amazing Craft Ladies. These wonderful ladies created all of the prizes for our Easter raffle and spend much of the year creating amazing things for our Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas stalls. A big thank you also to all of you for the generous donation of Easter Eggs etc. Because of your generosity we were able to raise a substantial amount of money for those less fortunate than we are.
This morning our Year 6 students performed a very moving, emotional and heartfelt Stations of the Cross. I am so proud of each and every one of them for their portrayal of the final days of Jesus’ life. This was a powerful learning for our students and families who attended.
I wish you all a wonderful holiday time and look forward to another fantastic term when we return. Don’t forget that you have the Monday back as a public holiday for ANZAC Day.
Kind regards
Lisa Broeren
Congratulations to our year 3 & 4 students who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation yesterday; Xavier, Lars, Aidan, Lexi, Seth, Annabelle, Emily, Gabrielle and Cianna.
Fundraising and St Mary's Open Day
As Easter approaches and many families are buying pyjamas for their kids for Easter, we thought it would be a great time to have our latest fundraiser. Joanne's Kidswear have generously offered to give us 20% of any sales made on our fundraising day, Wednesday April 13. We made the day during the holidays so that families may take the opportunity to go into the store. You are also welcome to order online. The range is most impressive, with quilt covers, clothes - beautiful new ones for Winter, pyjamas and more, all at very reasonable prices. As always, we thank you for your support.

Our wonderful St Mary’s Craft Group meet every Tuesday in the School Hall at 9.00am. Their aim is to raise money for the School through various activities. For our new families; they hold a Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Stall. Last year for the first time we had a Christmas stall and they hope to repeat that this year.
Anyone is welcome to come along and you don’t have to be particularly crafty! There will be something that you can do.
They always welcome donations of materials that can be used to make the presents, including wrapped sweets, soap, etc. so there is a variety for the children to buy.
So please feel free to come along to see what they do and join them for a cuppa!
