Dear Parents,
What an exciting start to Term 3 we are having! We have welcomed Mr Cory Monckton to our staff as Deputy Principal for the remainder of this year. Cory has settled in beautifully and is thoroughly enjoying all aspects of the school. He feels very welcome and included and thanks you all for your kindness and friendliness.
We have just had our Year 3/4 camp to Forest Edge this week and from all reports the kids had a wonderful time. Tonight, we have had our school disco which was a huge hit and a great celebration for our students. A huge thank you to our parents who supported the disco in so many ways. A big thank you also to our staff who stayed and helped on the night. It was such a wonderful night for all of our kids. On Monday we will be celebrating Grandparents Day with a liturgy in St Mary’s church, followed by a visit to the classrooms and a lovely morning tea, catered by our amazing staff. We are looking forward to sharing this special time with our Grandparents.
During the holidays we had new flagpoles put in and we now proudly display our Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags. This is a lovely addition to our playground. We also had a lot of work done on our trees during the holiday to ensure we are compliant and our playground is safe for everyone.
The fete preparations are well and truly underway and I thank our parents for the work they are doing to ensure our fete is a great success. Please put Sunday November 13 in your calendars as this will be a very special event and we will need lots of support.
I take this opportunity to thank you for your support, particularly with keeping unwell children at home. There are so many illnesses going around at present and I thank you for ensuring your child stays at home if they are showing any signs of sickness. This has enabled us to provide a safe, healthy learning environment for our children and staff.
Wishing you all a wonderful, warm and healthy week.
Kind regards
Lisa Broeren
We are so excited to announce that our school Fete will be held on Sunday 13th November from 10-2pm and we know that our wonderful community will support us in anyway they can.
Donate it so we can smash it!
The Fete committee are seeking unwanted, chipped crockery from families so we can run our crockery smash event at the upcoming Fete. We are looking for things like, but not limited to mugs, bowls, plates and ornaments. No glass.
There will be a tub at reception for donations up until the fete so please bring in what you can!

COVID update - Face Masks, Testing and Isolation
Dear parents and carers,
We are writing to you as parents/carers of a child or children in government, Catholic and independent schools across Victoria.
The Victorian Department of Health strongly recommends that face masks are worn in indoor settings.
As a result, we are asking all students aged 8 and over and all staff in all schools across Victoria to wear masks when in class (except where removing a mask is necessary for clear communication) from now to the end of winter.
Students won’t be required or expected to wear masks when outdoors, and this expectation won’t stop student participation in the full range of school activities, including music, sport and performances.
We are asking for your support in explaining to your child or children the importance of this simple step that will help keep our schools as safe as possible.
We also ask that you make sure your child (or children) takes a mask to school (and wears it if they are travelling on public transport) or collects a mask when they arrive at school.
We all appreciate how important it is for students to be back at school. This action will help make sure as many students and staff as possible are protected from COVID and other winter illness.
Thank for your help with this collective effort to keep our communities safe and healthy.
Dr David Howes, Deputy Secretary Victorian Department of Education and Training
Michelle Green, Chief Executive Independent Schools Victoria
Jim Miles,Executive Director Catholic Education Commission of Victoria
Changes to Exemption Period for Testing and Isolation
The period of time when someone is considered a recently confirmed case and therefore exempt from testing and isolation requirements has been reduced from the previous 12 weeks to four (4) weeks.
This means that staff and students who have recovered from COVID-19 are not required to get tested or isolate if they are re-exposed to a positive COVID-19 case within four weeks of ending their isolation period. Previously, this exemption period was 12 weeks.
After the four-week exemption period, staff and students must follow the relevant testing and isolation advice depending on the type of COVID-19 contact they are.
Families will need to to report being a household contact to the school after this four-week period.

Sick Children and Rapid Antigent Tests
With so much illness going around at the moment we would appreciate it if parents could continue to check their children for COVID. We have RAT kits available for student use. If you require RATs please contact the office or your child's teacher via SeeSaw.
If students are unwell (not just with COVID) please keep them home so as not to expose other students and staff. Thank you for understanding.
