This week in 3/4A we have been preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This Sacrament is centred around seeing our mistakes, saying sorry and making things right again. It is much more than just a word.
Each of our Year 3/4 students has looked at the six steps of the sorry process. We had a lot of fun making role plays to share with the class that reflect these six steps. Some plays included playtime scenarios, classroom situations or home-life challenges. We also investigated these steps in a case study story.
- A selfish choice is made
- Owning up
- Saying sorry
- Being forgiven
- Accepting forgiveness
- Making things right (Act)
Forgiveness is given by the person or people we affected. They might not be ready to forgive us right away, but it is important that we offer our apology and give them time. God will always forgive us when we own up to our sins.
We hope that next time we make a selfish choice, we can make a genuine apology using these steps to guide us to be our B.E.S.T.
Our best wishes go towards those Year Three students who are making their First Reconciliation next Thursday!
Dear Parents
With only a few weeks left of term, I take this opportunity to thank you all for the way you have engaged with all aspects of school life this year. The Foundation children have settled beautifully into the school year with thanks to their wonderful teachers, ESOs and parents. We have all had such a positive and productive start to the year and we look forward to all that the year ahead will bring.
During this season of Lent we have been focussing on making the right choices in life and, if we make the wrong choice, what we can do to make up for the hurt we cause. This has been particularly relevant for our Year 3 students who are preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation next Thursday evening. We wish our First Reconciliation candidates all the very best as they continue their journey of faith. Know that you are in our prayers during this special time.
We are very excited to be preparing for the upcoming Athletics Sports at the Joe Carmody track next Friday. The children have their house teams and the captains have been chosen. The captains are preparing to lead their teams on this exciting day. We ask, if possible, that all children wear clothing representing their house colour – a t shirt in their house colour is a great start. Parents are very welcome to join us on the day to celebrate this exciting occasion for our children. At the conclusion of the day parents are welcome to take their children home from the track. Please make sure you sign your child out if you are taking them home from the athletics track. We are looking forward to a wonderful day.
We have just had our school photos taken and I thank you all for the way your children were presented for their photos. They all looked wonderful and showed how smart the school looks with the children in full school uniform. The photographer commented on how well the children behaved and what a pleasure it was to photograph them.
A huge thank you to our Parents and Friends for organising the hot cross bun drive. These initiatives are a wonderful way for us to make money to purchase resources for our school. Thank you to our families for supporting this initiative. I hope you all enjoy your lovely hot cross buns.
We recently had our Parent Teacher Interviews and I thank you all for the way you engaged in these meetings. We truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child and we are part of that village with you. When we work together the richness in learning and growth for your child is strengthened and supports your child to reach their full potential. We are grateful for your support as we strive to create the best learning environment for your child. I also thank our wonderful teachers for the time and dedication they gave to preparing for these meetings and the way they engaged with you in sharing about the education of your child.
Kind regards
Lisa

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is on an Easter egg hunt.
But the eggs they’re searching for aren’t wrapped in foil and they certainly aren’t made of chocolate. No, they’re looking for good eggs.
Good eggs like us at St Mary's.
A lot of regular blood donors are away at this time of year, but the need for blood doesn’t take a break. A young cancer patient, someone dealing with a stomach disease, and a grandma getting a hip replacement will all need donations to get them through the tough times.
Book your donation at lifeblood.com.au or call 13 14 95 to make a huge difference to someone who needs it.
