This term in grade 3/4 the students will be exploring the Paddock-to-Plate concept. To kick start our new Inquiry unit, we had an incursion with Excited 4 Careers in Agriculture. The students enjoyed learning about Dairy farms and all the interesting careers involved in Dairy farming. The students participated in activities such as testing the quality of certain types of milk, learning about the different types of Dairy cows and products, and to top off the day, we travelled to a nearby Dairy farm in Westbury. There the students learnt about how the cows were milked using state of the art technology!
Ellie - I like giving out the bickies and cheese to everyone
Lexi - I liked making the milk bottles and watching the cows getting milked.
Harry - I liked testing the milk.
Archie - I like the ‘cheeky’ grain.

Dear Parents
Welcome back to the new term. I hope that you had a wonderful Easter and holiday time with your families. Holidays are a lovely break from the routine of school life and an important opportunity for families to enjoy special times together.
A huge thank you to our wonderful parents who planned, supported and ran the Fun Run on Friday. This is always a great occasion and the children thoroughly enjoy the sausage sizzle and the run where they get to have fun with their friends. The money raised will go towards resources for the school.
We are in the process of having school tours for the Foundation children starting next year. I can’t believe that we are already at this stage of the school year! If you know anyone who has a child starting school next year and they are considering St Mary’s for their child, please let them know that enrolments are open and that I am very happy to give them a tour of our wonderful school.
A very special occasion is almost upon us as we prepare for Mother’s Day with our Prayer Gathering on Friday May 12 at 9.00am in the Church. We warmly invite all Mums, Grandmothers and special people who are like Mums to the children to come and enjoy a morning with your children. We will be celebrating our Mums with a special Prayer Gathering in the church. This is followed by a visit to your children’s classrooms and finishes with a morning tea, just for the grownups, where you have the opportunity to relax and enjoy some special time with other Mums. This is always a wonderful day and the children love spending this time with their Mums and the special people in their lives who fill this important role for them. We look forward to sharing this occasion with you.
As the special day of Mother’s Day approaches, I take this opportunity to thank our amazing Mums for the love and care you give to your children. Your support and guidance, your warmth and kindness and the dedication you give are gifts that your child will take with them as they navigate all life brings. We thank you for the support you give to us as we do all we can to educate and care for your children. We hope that this Mother’s Day offers you the opportunity to spend a day celebrating and sharing special moments with your beautiful family.
Warmest regards
Lisa
