This term, the Grade 1 students have been focusing on writing complete and informative sentences that include a When? Who? What? Where?
Students have been provided with a variety of picture prompts and this week our pictures have been taken from the wordless picture storybook ‘Window’ written by Jeannie Baker. With each page, a boy grows and the scene outside his home changes.
Please enjoy some of the creative sentences students have crafted for the picture provided.

Last Friday we celebrated NAIDOC week with a beautiful and very moving Smoking Ceremony. Aunty Michelle, one of our Aboriginal Elders, performed the ceremony and spoke of the importance of bringing our cultures together and the significance of the smoke as it unites us as Australians. All of our students and staff participated in the ceremony, showing respect and understanding that this is a significant and important experience for our school community and one that we cherish every year.
On Tuesday this week Barb from Bunnings generously gave her time to work with our Year 6 Environment Leaders to plant a range of plants in our front gardens. We were so pleased to be able to complete this work as we have had to postpone this day several times due to the weather. Barb and our leaders began their mission bathed in beautiful sunshine and finished it in the rain – such is our current weather! We thank Barb for the wonderful job she did for us and we thank Bunnings for providing the plants and gardening equipment for free. Barb spoke very highly of the Environment Leaders and the respect they showed throughout the planting session. She also spoke of the Environment Leaders’ commitment, dedication and determination as they continued to work through the rain without complaint to ensure their gardening task was completed.
We thank all of our Year 6 leaders for committing to their leadership roles and we continue to enjoy and benefit from the difference they make in our school.
We are in the final preparation stage for our Sacrament of First Communion this Saturday night at 5.00pm at St Mary’s Church. The students who are making their First Communion are very excited to be receiving this very special sacrament.
Yours sincerely,
Lisa Broeren

We are looking for donations for the Raffle – perhaps a voucher from a hardware store or a petrol voucher or whatever you think you might like to win in a raffle! Anything suitable for our Stall would also be most welcome. We thank you for your continued support of our money raising for our School.
