Welcome back to school for Term 4. It’s hard to believe that we are at the final term for the year already!
We finished last term with so many wonderful activities across the school. Our children loved celebrating a belated Father’s Day morning with their dads and the special people who take on the role of Dad in their lives. The staff of St Mary’s cooked and served the breakfast to the dads and their children. A very moving PowerPoint topped off a fantastic day, as photos of our dads and special people with their children was played and accompanied by lovely songs reflecting on how important dads are in the lives of their children. The church was absolutely packed with Dads and kids sharing this special occasion together and thanking God for the gift they are to each other. This was a true representation of our school community and the dedication of our families.
Over the holidays we have had major work done throughout the playground. We have replaced the AFL football goal posts, put new pads on them, created concrete pathways to the cubby house and the bus shelter, with a concrete floor created in the bus shelter. We have removed all the bark in the back playground and are in the process of replacing it with new bark. This was needed because the bark that was there was too high and had disintegrated to powder. We removed the bushes from the side of the sandpit, built new walls in the sandpit and filled it with all new sand. The areas around the sandpit were filled in to ensure they are safe. The area between the sandpit and the cubby house has been levelled to the new wall at the back of the sandpit. While this could not be completed by the end of the holidays, it has made a significant difference to our playground and will be finished as soon as possible.
This Friday we have Pyjama Day at school. The children are invited to wear their pyjamas and bring a gold coin donation that will go to a worthy charity.
Lunch orders have become a very popular part of our school week, so much so that we have decided to trial lunch orders twice a week! We will be having lunch orders on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting next week. Please make sure you have put your order for Tuesday in by 5.00pm on Monday and your order for Thursday in by 5.00pm on Wednesday.
Kind regards
Lisa
