Dear Parents,
We have had a wonderful week, with the children having the opportunity to celebrate
together with Andrew Chinn last Friday. It was a fantastic turnout from our parents
and a great way to celebrate our school community.
On Monday we had Mindfull Aus working with our Year F-2 classes. They do such a
wonderful job of teaching the children how to Identify, Control and Express their
emotions, giving them healthier hearts and lighter minds.
Also on Monday we had our school photos. Peter and Pam, the photographers from
HotFX, spoke very highly of our students and the exceptional behaviour and
collaboration they showed throughout the day.
We congratulate our Year 3 and Year 5 students on the way they engaged with
NAPLAN. They should feel so proud of themselves and the wonderful job they did.
They certainly did their best throughout the sessions.
This Friday we are having our Colour Fun Run. We thank all families for your support
and we look forward to a wonderful, fun day together.
On Monday we have our Athletics Carnival at the Joe Carmody Track. Our Years 3-6
students will be walking to the track at the beginning of the school day. Our Year F-2
students will be walking to the track at 11.30am. We expect that the carnival will
finish close to the end of the day and we invite parents who are attending to take
their children home from the track at the end of the day.
Harmony Week is an annual celebration in March across Australia, dedicated to
promoting diversity, respect, and inclusion. It provides a wonderful opportunity for
parents to introduce their children to different cultures, traditions, and customs. The
aim is to foster an appreciation for diversity, encouraging everyone to celebrate
differences and create a sense of belonging within the community. The theme for
Harmony Week 2025, which takes place from March 17-23, is “Harmony - we all
have a role to play!”.
Throughout Harmony Week, a variety of events and activities are organized to unite
people from different cultural backgrounds. These include multicultural food festivals,
cultural performances, art exhibitions, and workshops. By participating in these
activities, children can develop a deeper understanding of the diverse communities
that shape Australia.
As a parent, you can engage your children in conversations about multiculturalism
and inspire them to ask questions. By nurturing a more inclusive and harmonious
society, you’ll help your children develop a greater appreciation for the cultural
richness and diversity that Australia offers.
As we enter the third week of Lent, we reflect on the message Pope Francis has for
us:
Let us pray that during this season of Lent we embrace the opportunity to: fast from
hurting words and say kind words, fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude, fast
from anger and be filled with patience, fast from pessimism and be filled with hope,
fast from worries and have trust in God, fast from complaints and contemplate
simplicity, fast from pressures and be prayerful, fast from bitterness and fill our
hearts with joy, fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others, fast from
grudges and be reconciled, fast from words and be silent so we can listen. We pray
that our only desire and our one choice is to choose what better leads to the
deepening of God’s life in us. We ask the Lord to guide our decisions today and to
bless us with His peace, His joy, His love. Amen.
Kind regards
Lisa
How lucky are we to have Andrew Chinn visit our school and put on an amazing concert for our students and school families! It was such an enjoyable day for the students, especially the Junior students who have not been part of his concerts before. We had an amazing turn out by parents and it was once again a sign of our terrific school community.
