Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

We are very excited that some of the restrictions have eased and we are able to participate in a range of activities. This Friday we are able to hold our whole school assembly and, while we are disappointed that we cannot have parents in attendance, we are really looking forward to our staff and students gathering together as a community again. As we are a primary school our children are too young to be vaccinated which means that for us the restrictions are still in place with regards to parents coming into school. Parents are unable to attend assemblies and are unable to go into classrooms. We appreciate your understanding and support regarding these challenging realities we are facing. Your support in all of these situations is the reason our students are able to engage fully in school life with minimal distress or interruption to their learning and social lives.

We are also excited that our class Masses and Reconciliations are able to be held again and we thank Fr Daniel for his support in enabling us to participate. We also celebrated Soktober this week with our students raising money for those less fortunate than ourselves. This was so well supported by our students and staff and the colourful, crazy, funny range of socks was very entertaining. The students gave a gold coin in support of those in need. We were also able to participate in a very moving Remembrance Day ceremony both at school, which was run by our Year 6 leaders, and for our Mini Oblates who commemorated this significant occasion at the Newborough cenotaph.

We have also been given approval to have our Foundation Transition Days, with 3 exciting days planned for our new Foundation students for the 2022 school year. Our wonderful Uniform Shop parent volunteers are working hard to make sure the Uniform Shop is filled with all of the options a new Foundation student might like to choose. We thank them for their time and dedication to the students and families of our school. Our Foundation Teachers are also very busy creating exciting and memorable activities for our new students. Our Foundation Transition Days are:

Tuesday November 23 from 10.45am until 12.15pm

Tuesday November 30 from 10.45am until 12.15pm

Tuesday December 7 from 10.45am until 12.45pm

We are very excited to be sharing these days with our new students and know that they will have a wonderful time with their new friends.

Class friend requests for all children for 2022 have been sent home via See Saw. These requests will close on Sunday 14th November. If we have not heard from any families, we will assume you are happy for the decision to be left with the teachers regarding who your child will have in their class.

Last, but certainly not least for our students, the end of year celebrations that we had hoped to have are able to go ahead. I won’t spoil the planning surprise, you will have to wait for your child’s teacher to reveal what your child’s class will be doing to celebrate the year and all your children have meant to us and to each other.

I wish you all a very happy and restful weekend at this busy time of the year.

Kind regards,

Lisa Broeren
