5/6 News
On Tuesday the Year 5/6 classes had the opportunity to attend the Tabloid Sports day at Lowanna College. Our students, along with students from various local primary schools, participated in 18 activities of modified sports. This was organised by students involved in Lowanna’s sport’s program. These included netball, basketball, rugby, cricket, athletics, volleyball, soccer and football.
After lunch all teams competed in a European handball tournament where St Mary’s Team B made their way to the grand final. They played hard and fast but alas they had to share their victory with St Kieran’s in a drawn game, one goal all.
The students enjoyed the day with many of the year 5 students looking forward to next year's competition. Here is what they had to say about their experience:
Georgia P: “I was tired, sweaty and hot, but I still played my best and really enjoyed it.”
Maisy: “I really enjoyed playing the different variety of sports, it was very competitive.”
Eva: “It was great to play sports against other schools.”
Mason: “ I felt like I was in front of so many people competing in the grand final, it made me nervous but I was proud of the way I played.”
Oakleigh: “ I wanted the activities to go for longer because I enjoyed playing them so much.”
Mia: “ I was pretty proud of my team getting into the grand final, it was exciting.”
Keira: “ My favourite part was the European Handball competition even though my team didn’t get through to the grand final.”
Georgia Mc: “ I’m hoping we get a chance to play again next year when I am in Year 6.”
Shiloh: “ I like the competition and the crowd cheering on my team in the grand final.”
