Principal's Report

Dear Parents

Yesterday was such a wonderful example of our community coming together to celebrate. We were so excited to be able to have our Mother’s Day Prayer Gathering and morning tea and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The church was filled with Mums, Grandmothers and Special Friends who had come to celebrate Mother’s Day with their children and the excitement from the children showed how special the day was to them. During the Prayer Gathering the children presented a gift they had made to their special person. Watching the sharing between our children and their special person was such a beautiful experience for all of us.  Following the Prayer Gathering a visit to the classrooms created more excitement for both the children and their special person, before our Mums, Grandmothers and Special Friends enjoyed a delicious morning tea and a chat.

Our amazing Craft Ladies have been working all year creating wonderful items for our Mother’s Day stall. Throughout the morning excited children ventured to the stall to buy something for their Mums, Grandmothers and special friends. As always, our Mother’s Day stall is a highlight of our Mother’s and a gift to families who delight in the presents they receive, handpicked by their children. The Mother’s Day stall raised in excess of $1200.00 which is a remarkable achievement. We thank our amazing Craft Ladies for the wonderful work they do and the way they support our school community.

Towards the end of the school holidays our Year 6 school leaders were invited to attend the Anzac Day ceremony in Newborough. Seeing our school leaders marching in the parade and laying a wreath in respect to those who fought for our country and for those who paid the greatest sacrifice in giving their lives to fight for our country, was a very proud moment. Leadership is a role of service and our Year 6 students who attended showed true leadership as they represented our school, impeccably dressed in their uniforms and marching with dignity and pride.

We recently held our Student Parent Teacher Meetings (Parent Teacher Interviews). I take this opportunity to thank our wonderful teachers who continue to do all they can to support our students and their families. These meetings were a great success and the feedback from parents and our teachers is very positive. The collaboration and partnership between our teachers and parents are so important for the well-being and education of our students. I thank our parents for committing to these meetings to enable the teachers to share the learning journey of each child with their family.

On behalf of St Mary’s staff and students I wish all of our Mums, Grandmothers and special people in the lives of our children a very Happy Mother’s Day.

Kind regards
Lisa Broeren
