Student Achievements
We are very proud of our St Mary’s students when we hear of their achievements (outside of school) in different areas of sporting, music and the arts. Over the long weekend Georgia Priddle and Mia Blandford competed in the ATOD State Scholarships in Melbourne. To qualify, both girls completed 3 exams where they both scored the highest results of Honours with Distinction with a score of 100%. Georgia competed in the sub-junior Ballet section while Mia competed in the sub-junior Jazz. Both girls undertook a class with the adjudicator and then performed a solo dance in their specific genre. Georgia, who dances with the Gippsland Academy of Dance placed 2nd in Ballet and Mia, who dances with KC’s School of Dance, placed 2nd in Jazz. We congratulate both girls before they move on to the ATOD Australasian Scholarships where they will compete against the top finalists from around the country.
Luke Scholes has been busy training and attending competitions in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).
Luke attended the Australian Jiu Jitsu Championships in February and won
a silver medal in his division. He also attended the Victorian Jiu Jitsu Championships in May and won a silver medal.
Luke returned home from an interclub competition in Melbourne on the
Queen's Birthday weekend with a silver medal in his Gi division, and a
gold medal in his No-Gi division!
Luke is pictured here with his medals from this weekend.
On Monday 6th June Noah Warner was awarded a Sporting Grant by the Moe Junior Development Sports Committee for his involvement in Swimming. 12 participants were awarded with financial support to pursue their goals and dreams within their nominated sport and we wish Noah all the best with his Swimming. Congratulations Noah.
If your child has done something amazing outside of school we would love to hear about it and share it within our community.
