Principal's Report

Dear Parents

This week we have been preparing for the very special celebration of First Holy Communion for some of our students. The excitement that greeted me as the children were heading for the church for Mass gave a very clear indication that this was indeed a special and important time in their faith lives. When I asked them why they were so excited as they walked by, I was told in very animated tones that they were going to Mass and that they were clearly very happy about it. This reminds us all that for our children, whether they are celebrating the sacraments, learning about them, or being part of the work preparing and creating cards for those who are part of the sacrament, these times are a community event and celebrate what it means to care for, and support, each other. This is a special time for all of us.

We have been very fortunate to have been able to offer a range of sporting opportunities for our children. These have included a range of clinics that run for a number of weeks. We have had football, netball and, at the moment we are having a hockey clinic. Despite the weather we have had, the children have all had a wonderful time learning from Jude, who has taught them a range of skills and fun activities. Thank goodness for our undercover court!

I take this opportunity to say farewell to Julian Blackford as he leaves our school at the end of this term to take up the role as Principal at St Mary’s in Maffra. Julian has been a wonderful asset to our school as our Deputy Principal and Foundation teacher, and Julian has fulfilled a range of other roles as well. We wish Julian all the very best in his new position. We are in the process of working through a range of opportunities for us for the coming two terms, filling the required roles. I will let you know what will be happening as soon as it has been decided. I thank you for your understanding and patience with this process.

I wish you all a very happy last week of term. Keep well and warm.

Kind regards
Lisa Broeren
