Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
We have had a couple of very exciting weeks at St Mary’s. We are very excited that our school choir came first in the Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod and we thank Bek Warner, our music teacher, for the great work she has done to prepare the children. We also thank Sophy Morley for generously giving her time to provide the musical accompaniment. This was a wonderful and very exciting experience for our children, staff and families.
We are also excited that some of our students have reached the Division Basketball level. We are so proud of all of our students and the way they give their very best and work together to achieve and reach their potential.
We also had a fantastic excursion to the Australian Netball Championships for our middle and senior students. This was such an exciting experience for our children and our staff had a great time too!
We are excited that we are having a Father’s Day liturgy on Friday as this will be a very special celebration for our children as well as for our Dads. Grandfathers and people who are special in the lives of our children. We look forward to a wonderful morning together. Just a reminder that we are having our Father’s Day stall on Friday at school and we would love for the children to bring some money to buy something special for their Dad, Grandfather or special person in their life.
Our Year 5/6 students spent several days this week at Sovereign Hill camp. They learned a lot about what life was like in the past and how gold was discovered. I thank our wonderful staff who gave their time to support the students to enable them to attend camp.
A huge thank you to our parents for the support you have given to our two Parent/Student/Teacher meetings. These are an important way for our teachers to share your child’s learning journey with you and for you to have the opportunity to discuss your child’s learning with their teacher. I thank our wonderful teachers for the time and dedication they gave to ensure all families were catered for and supported.
Next week I will be having our Foundation 2023 ‘Get to know you’ meetings with the parents of students enrolled in Foundation for the 2023 school year. If you know of anyone who is coming to St Mary’s next year, please give them a gentle reminder to book their meeting as this is a wonderful way for us to get to know the children so that their transition to St Mary’s is a smooth and positive one. This is an exciting time for us and for our new families.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend as we prepare for the coming of Spring, a time of renewal, new life and hopefully warmer weather.
Kind regards
Lisa
