News from 5/6 A
This term 5/6A have been focusing and preparing themselves for debating. Debating is a great way to tackle those public speaking nerves and respond in an appropriate manner by putting your point of view across. The students have chosen the topic question 'Summer is better than Winter' and are developing the skills to critically think and deliver a written and oral presentation. Here is what some of the students have to say for each team.
Affirmative team members
Amelie “Summer allows you to have greater access to swimming facilities such as beaches and outdoor pools".
Ben “Summer allows you to burn more calories due to people just getting out more and exercising”.
Noah “Vitamin D assists with absorption of iron within the body and it is better to consume with natural sun light rather than taking a tablet”.
Negative team members
Mia “Winter is defined as a cold season between autumn and spring and summer is defined as hot season between spring and autumn and we the negative team believe that winter is the season to be a part of over summer”.
Natalie “UV rays are greater in summer than in winter and because of that, the greater UV exposure increase the risk of diseases and serious health issues such as eye disease and skin cancer”.
Xavier “Colder weather doesn’t make you feel guilty of being lazy or recharging your batteries by staying indoors and watch your favourite movies and series”.
Adeleine “In summer there are less items of clothes to wear due to the hot temperatures. However, winter allows you to wear many layers and be able to accessorise".
