Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Well, here we are, in an unprecedented time and place, creating a new normal for our families as we continue to navigate a pathway that continues to change. It reminds me of a book title that is so appropriate for our current time – ‘Dancing on a shifting carpet.’ I hope that as you continue to dance, you are finding joy in moments shared and a renewed understanding of the importance of the simple things in life – phone calls with loved ones, google meets, a visit to the supermarket – all of these remind us of the importance of creating an environment where our wellbeing is at the forefront of all we do.

As we enter the last two weeks of Term 3, it would serve us all to remember that this is the end of a traditionally challenging term where we experienced a cold and dark Winter and we now begin to experience the first signs of Spring. This is the time when we come out of hibernation and soak in the sunshine. With this Sunday being Father’s Day, I hope you are able to find a way to celebrate your Dads and all they mean to your family.

As we move into the last two weeks of this term, and excitedly imagine our community coming back together to start Term 3, I have been reflecting on the importance of kindness – kindness towards others and kindness to ourselves. It is so easy to feel less than we would like to feel and focus on what we could have or should have done. At this time, it is important for each one of us to reflect on what we have done to bring kindness to ourselves and each other. The following quotes are inspirational in their ability to change how we see ourselves and those around us.

It’s never too early to teach the value of kindness. Even kids have the opportunity to make an impact on those around them. Learning about the impact kindness can have early on will be an invaluable lesson throughout their lives. Encourage and inspire your kids to make intentional acts of kindness with these quotes.

“Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody.” - Kid President

“To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world.” -Dr. Seuss

“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But, people will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou

“Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” - Maya Angelou

“If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.” - Dolly Parton

“If you can’t think of anything nice to say, you’re not thinking hard enough.” - Kid President

“If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.” - Napoleon Hill

“It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.” - John Templeton

“The only way to have a friend is to be one.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” - Aesop

“Have courage and be kind. Where there is kindness there is goodness, and where there is goodness there is magic.” - Disney’s Cinderella

I wish a wonderful Father’s Day to all of our Dads, Grandpas and the special men in our lives whose love and kindness brings joy to our children. I hope your day is all you could wish it to be.

Kind regards

Lisa Broeren
