A Note From The Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
As a Diocese of Catholic Education, will are celebrating Catholic Education Week from 19 May to 26 May. The theme for this year is: Catholic Schools – Places of Encounter. The message for Catholic Education Week this year comes from Colossians, 4:6 ‘Let the words you speak always be full of Grace’. This is a lovely message that we can all relate to and speaks to our Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour, where we focus on supporting every child to be all they can be. We know the power of words and their ability to create an environment where the spiritual, emotional and learning needs of every child can find a safe space to grow and thrive. This will be our focus during Catholic Education week and beyond as we continue to do all we can to meet the needs of every child in our care.
This week we had a wonderful parent evening with Matt Runnall’s from Mindfull Aus. Many parents who attended have spoken with me about how much they learned and how positive his message is for our children, parents and families as a whole. Matt will be providing the sessions for the children next week and will be supporting our staff to continue the journey of “Healthier Hearts and Lighter Minds” for our children. As a school we are very excited to be engaging with this program and all it will mean for our school community.
We are currently taking enrolments for the 2024 school year. Yesterday we had a successful Open Day and we already have a pleasing number of enrolments for next year. If you know of anyone considering St Mary’s for their child, please let them know that they are welcome to call the office to organise a tour and/or collect an enrolment form. Enrolment forms are also available on our website.
A huge and heartfelt thankyou to all who helped make our Mother’s Day Stall and raffle such a success. Our Craft Ladies did a magnificent job and made sure every child had something lovely for their Mum or the special person in their life who takes on the role of Mum. We also had parents generously donate products for us to sell in the stall along with the beautiful items made by our Craft Ladies. This is a very special opportunity for our children as they carefully pick out what they feel their Mum’s and special person would like. We are so grateful that we are able to offer this to the children in our school.
We were very excited to have had our yearly Colour Fun Run recently. The children had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the sausage sizzle and the fun run. We thank our Parents and Friends for the work they did to enable this to be such a great success. We raised a total of $9,717.00, which will be used to buy resources for the children. It is because of your generosity and commitment to the education of your child that we are able to provide the most contemporary practices and resources to support your child’s learning.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend. Keep well and warm.
Kind regards
Lisa
