Week One has sadly brought our attention to natural disasters in our community, a timely coincidence with our new geography unit, ‘Fires and Floods’. In our first fortnight of this investigation, students have explored regions prone to bushfires and the importance of creating a bushfire action plan. 

To reflect their understandings, they have constructed paragraphs utilising the structure of a hook, topic sentence, explanation and concluding sentence. It has also provided the opportunity to showcase our developing sentence structures using ‘if’, ‘even though’ and ‘although’ as examples. Then, to polish off our bright ideas, students have been keen to employ our focus vocabulary words. Please read messages from just some of our passionate writers in 3/4A!
