Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Ojibwa_Prayer.png

We have had a very busy couple of weeks of learning and fun at school. The children have settled back into school with renewed enthusiasm for learning and being with their friends again.

We are very excited to have been able to provide both rich learning and some activities that have enabled classes to build community spirit. This ensures that, when the children look back at this year, they are able to recall the many enjoyable and creative ways they experienced fun through exciting extra curricula activities. These have included Footy Day, Crazy Sock Day, Book Week dress up day, Remembrance Day and our upcoming Colour Run, end of year excursions and incursions, and lots of classroom fun. I thank our staff for their support in ensuring we have made the very best of this unique and challenging year. We have even taken enough photos to create a Yearbook that is still in draft form, but looks fantastic! A huge thank you to our amateur photographer teachers and ESOs and to our parents who have worked to create a Yearbook that we can all be proud of.

We are still waiting for each new update to enable us to provide as many opportunities for our children as we can. We are preparing the children for their Confirmation with several plans in place to cater for the potentially changing restrictions. We have excursions in the planning stage, again ensuring we are following all COVID restrictions and planning in case we are able to offer more should the restrictions ease further. We are also planning our Year 6 graduation ceremony, dependent on the restrictions that will be in place at that time.

We are very excited to be able to offer our Foundation Transition Days on four Tuesdays: November 17, 24, December 1 and 8. We are looking forward to welcoming our new students for next year.

The children will be finishing school for the year on Wednesday December 16 and we will be having staff planning days on the Thursday and Friday, December 17 and 18. At this stage we are not sure what will happen about an end of year Mass and any celebrations that may accompany the Mass. Rest assured that we will let you know as soon as we hear anything further.

Again, I thank you all for your ongoing support regarding all aspects of your child’s education. We are currently in the process of creating the classes for next year and I thank you for the way you have engaged in this process with your children. We are committed to ensuring each child has someone in their class who will enhance their opportunity to learn and to enjoy the school day. This is a very challenging task and we all work together to ensure we have each child in the right classroom environment to give them the greatest chance of success.

I hope you are all enjoying these beautiful, sunny days.

Kind regards

Lisa Broeren
