Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
We had a wonderful day today, celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, with our St Mary’s Day celebrations. Our day began with the children arriving looking very colourful in their casual clothes. They were so excited to have a day out of uniform. This set the scene for an exciting and community-based day, beginning with a beautiful Mass in St Mary’s church, complete with a PowerPoint showing the exciting and fun things we do as a school community. During the Mass, Fr Daniel presented the children who made the Sacrament of Confirmation last week, with a necklace, depicting Jesus as the Good Shepherd, leading and supporting his flock. It is a replica of the cross worn by Pope Francis, a lovely gesture by Fr Daniel and gratefully received by our newly confirmed Year 6 students. Following the Mass, the children spent the day engaging in a wide range of activities that celebrate who we are as a school community. The day was led by the Year 6 students, who are the student leaders of St Mary’s school. They did a magnificent job of organising the activities, making flyers to advertise the day, running the activities and supporting and leading the children from all grades of the school. The activity day was run as the four sports house teams, which gave all children the opportunity to spend the day with children from grades across the school. The children also enjoyed their lunch order day and a Zooper Dooper as a treat to celebrate this special day. I thank Fr Daniel, our staff and the students for making St Mary’s Day such a wonderful occasion.
Kind regards
Lisa
