Principal's Report
Dear Parents
Well, here we are, at the end of a year that will be remembered for its challenges as well as for building great strength and resilience. I am so grateful to our wonderful staff who have provided rich learning, constant support, patience and a feeling of positivity, all while maintaining flexibility as the changing year continued to evolve. This year, like no other, we have relied heavily on parent support to ensure our children were able to continue with their learning and were supported through an unprecedented year of change and challenge. As families you continually exceeded any expectation we could have put on you and created a sense of normality and success for your children when the world around you was so far from normal. We thank you for all you have done to enable this year to be successful.
We have had an incredibly busy learning term, with many opportunities to celebrate our school community and what it means to be part of St Mary’s. The learning that has been achieved this term has enabled us to end the year on a very positive note, which is a credit to the resilience of your children as they came back to school and settled into their learning with purpose and determination. We have had lots of fun this term too despite the need to ensure we are always COVID compliant. As I write this we are in the process of recording our Christmas production, all being held outside and ensuring we are following the COVID guidelines. The production is being filmed professionally and I assure you the DVDs that we are selling will be a wonderful keepsake of a production like no other. The children are doing a fantastic job and it has all come together really well.
We are having a Graduation Mass and a Graduation Dinner to celebrate our Year 6 students. Unfortunately, because of COVID restrictions, we are unable to have a whole school end of year Mass, however we are very grateful that the restrictions have eased, enabling us to provide the end of year celebrations that are so important to our Year 6 students.
As the year draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families and staff a happy, holy and blessed Christmas.
Kind regards,
Lisa Broeren
