Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

It is with great excitement that I introduce you to our School Leaders for the 2021 school year.

At St Mary’s we believe that every Year 6 student has earned the right and deserves the opportunity to be a School Leader. Because of this commitment, every student in Year 6 is an integral part of our school leadership group. Last Friday our Year 6 students stood before the school community and their parents as they committed to being the best Year 6 leader they could be. I was so proud and impressed by their enthusiastic commitment to upholding our school rules and values, showing leadership and support to the other students and the staff in our school, and their dedication to providing excellent leadership throughout the 2021 school year. Each Year 6 Leader was presented with a SCHOOL LEADER badge which they proudly wear throughout each school day so that they are a visible presence of leadership for their fellow students. As a staff we look forward to watching these young leaders grow in confidence as they take on the responsibility and commitment of leading our school this year.

Each year our Year 6 students are invited to become Mini Oblates. As Mini Oblates these students become role models as leaders in our school, bringing to life the commitment of serving others that Jesus’ modelled throughout his life, and our Oblate Priests live everyday throughout our school and parish. Each student wrote a letter expressing their desire and commitment to leading as a Mini Oblate and, due to the quality of these letters, all students who applied for this role were accepted. We are very proud of our Mini Oblate Team who are already coming up with ideas and proposals for ways that we can serve others both within our school and beyond to the wider community. Our commitment to the Caritas fundraising is one way that our Mini Oblates are accepting the responsibility to lead in our school.

As a staff we feel blessed and fortunate to have our Year 6 leaders who will model how to be the BEST we can be:

B – Building Relationships

E – Expecting Excellence in Everything

S – Staying Safe Everywhere

T – Taking Responsibility for our Learning

I look forward to sharing with you the wonderful work our School Leaders and our Mini Oblates do throughout the year.

Kind regards

Lisa Broeren

Principal

Safety Message:

Due to a recent burglary from one of our staff cars, we just want to remind you to ensure your car is locked when you leave it unattended. We thank the police for following this up for us. They were most helpful and supportive. A very unfortunate incident that some of our students are aware of so please reassure them that the police are looking after us all and that we are doing everything we can to make sure our school is always as safe place to be.
